A General Overview of Music

Before I begin discussing music, I feel it's imperative that I show you the many genres that make music what it is today. The main periods of music's history can be divided into 6 separate categories:

Medieval Music: 0-1400 A.D.
Renaissance Music: 1400-1600 A.D.
Baroque Music: 1600-1750 A.D.
Classical Music: 1750-1825 A.D.
Romantic Music: 1825-1910 A.D.
Contemporary Music: 1920-present

These are the defining movements throughout music. Their categories span over decades, and even centuries, and contain many different sub-genres that are within the style, but differ from it at the same time. It is within these styles of music that artists today draw their inspiration. In this blog, hopefully you'll be able to see how all forms of music are interrelated, and are a part of something greater than we can understand.
